Is the art of Vincent van Gogh’s the work of a genius or a madman? Or was he a genius madman with a genius insanity gene? I don’t know. Point is; his paintings, drawings, watercolors, pencil, black chalk, brush in ink art work is one of the most beautiful works in the world.
Vincent van Gogh was part of a Post-Impressionists movement which was led by
Paul Cézanne, Paul Cézanne, Paul Gauguin, Georges Seurat and Paul Signac.
This movement was an extension of Impressionism, known for relatively small, thin, yet visible brush stroke, while rejecting its limitations they continued using vivid colors, often thick application of paint, and real-life subject matter, but were more inclined to emphasize geometric forms, distort form for expressive effect, and use unnatural or arbitrary color.
Claude Monet vs. Vincent van Gogh or post impressionism is the extreme version of impressionism or to put it more bluntly,(and this will not be appreciated by experts): Hipster vs Hippie or same same but different.
There are many stories about the life and death of Vincent van Gogh. The most famous story is about his ear, while the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam stand by the theory of self-mutilation, in 2009 two German academics, who have spent 10 years researching and reviewing the police investigations, witness accounts and the artist’s letters, made the case that Gauguin, a talented fencer, sliced off a portion of van Gogh’s ear with a saber during a dispute. According to this theory, van Gogh, who didn’t want to lose the friendship, agreed to cover up the truth about the incident in order to prevent Gauguin from going to jail.
If Vincent van Gogh was still alive today, headlines would be;” Why is mainstream media trying to cover up”, or something like that.
37 Year old and shot dead?
Same as the theory about his death. While some say, he shot himself in the abdomen, a 2011 biography of van Gogh came up with an alternative theory: He was accidentally shot by a teenage boy, van Gogh said his wound was self-inflicted because he felt the teen was helping him out by pulling the trigger. And here the headline would be van Gogh was shot to death by a troubled kid.
Vincent van Gogh’s artwork can be admired in Museums around the world and some of his beautiful work is part of a Private collection.
